The open house showcases your property to potential buyers seeing it for the first time, so you want it to look its best. Buyers don’t overlook anything, so make sure the entire place is clean from top to bottom, even inside the refrigerator and cabinets. Throw away the trash, put away your valuables, organize all closets and drawers, get rid of children and pet toys to de-clutter. Also try to depersonalize each room by removing photos and certain wall decorations. Make sure you have freshly washed linens, if necessary buy new linens and pillows in a neutral color. Also see that everything is in working order even light bulbs. Repair anything that needs fixing such as a leaky faucet.
Make sure your home is clean and in top condition for open houses and showings. Display fresh flowers to add warmth to the environment. Allow your agent to schedule showings at the time of day when your property looks best.
Remove pets from the premises when possible, and most importantly, go out and enjoy yourself during the open house. Leave everything to your agent who’ll be well prepared to answer all questions from prospective buyers and to give them compelling marketing collateral.
